Project Engineer II, Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc (JMT)

Korina Padilla is a first-generation Mexican American, born and raised in Denver, CO. She has been active in the engineering and construction industry since 1999 and brings over 13 years of professional experience working on a wide range of infrastructure and construction projects throughout Colorado. In addition to her technical expertise, she has 6 years of experience in the non-profit sector as the Statewide Latin Engagement Manager for the Girl Scouts of Colorado and 5 years of volunteer service with the Foothills Young Marines. These experiences have strengthened her leadership abilities and deepened her commitment to serving diverse communities.

Korina currently serves as a Project Engineer II with Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc (JMT), where she works on the Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) team. In this role, she collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality SUE plans that support safe and efficient infrastructure development. Her strong technical background, attention to detail, and ability to coordinate with public agencies, municipalities, and private partners have been key to the success of many complex projects.

In 2025, Korina was invited to speak at the SUE Association’s Annual Conference in Washington, D.C., where she shared her insight and experience in advancing careers within the SUE industry.

As a proud Denver native, Korina remains deeply involved in her community. She is an American Red Cross Certified Instructor in Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED, providing accessible safety training across the Denver Metro area. Trilingual in English, Spanish, and French, she values communication and cultural connection as essential parts of her work and service.

Korina is an active member of WTS Colorado and WTS International, where she advocates for women’s advancement in transportation and supports equitable infrastructure development. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her family, exploring new cities, camping and hiking in the Colorado Rockies, and playing the violin. She believes deeply that meaningful change begins with those willing to take the first step, and she strives every day to be that change.
