SUMMARY:Effective Project Management for Contractors
DESCRIPTION:This course is designed for employees beginning their management careers and those considering a transition into managerial responsibilities. This engaging and supportive learning experience is guided by the knowledge and experiences of you and your fellow participants. By the end of this 8-hour training\, you will be able to:  Consider various factors related to contract terms and conditions that impact managing a construction project.Explain how planning and scheduling impacts building the estimate of cost for the project.Relate the importance of plans and specifications to managing a construction project.Define and describe submittals.Report on the relationship of quality assurance and quality control to the successful completion of construction projects.Describe the role of documentation in managing construction projects.Explain how schedule tracking fits into the responsibilities of a project manager.Describe how data is collected to evaluate financial aspects of a construction project.Outline the elements of closing out a project.Part 2 of this course is June 13 from 3-7 pm. This is one of a series of courses presented through a Colorado Skill Advance Grant submitted by the NoCo Construction Partnership\, City of Fort Collins and City of Loveland. In addition to professor\, trainer and international business coach – John spent several years as a project manager for both Woodward and GE\, where John’s projects ranged from small hydropower plants to large gas turbine power plants.  John has 30 years of experience leading teams as a project manager\, sales manager\, Global Product Manager\, International General Manager\, International Field Engineer and US Navy Nuclear Submariner.
